Shoes for Show - Brick Lane

Christian Louboutin for English National Ballet

Christian Louboutin might be renowned for his killer heels but his latest piece of footwear fashion might be best left on the shelf to merely admire.
Inspired by a prima ballerina’s most important accessory, the French designer created the pumps to raise money for the English National Ballet.
The eight-inch heels feature Louboutin’s trade mark red soles and are studded with Swarovski crystals.
The 47-year-old’s masterpiece is on display in the Shoes For Show – The Sculptural art of High Heels exhibition in Brick Lane, East London.
And he said of the slipper: ‘Isn’t the classical dancing ballet slipper the ultimate heel’?
‘The heel which makes dancers closer than any other women to the sky, to heaven?’ The Sun reported.
Other artists showing at the exhibition include British Fashion Awards winner Nicholas Kirkwood, whose heeled artwork is titled Alice in Wonderland Heels.

Alexander McQueen also showcased a miniature snakeskin textured heel, which wouldn't even fit the smallest of feet.
Such artistic heels have become famed by celebrities such as Beyoncé, who wore bespoke Gareth Pugh heels in her music video Run the World (Girls) - which are also on display at the event presented by Javari.co.uk exhibits.

The best of Alexander McQueen

“[This collection predicted a future in which] the ice cap would melt…the waters would rise and…life on earth would have to evolve in order to live beneath the sea once more or perish…Humanity [would] go back to the place from whence it came.” – Lee Alexander McQueen

“When we put the antlers on the model and then draped over it the lace embroidery that we had made, we had to poke them through a £2,000 piece of work. But then it worked because it looks like she’s rammed the piece of lace with her antlers. There’s always spontaneity. You’ve got to allow for that in my shows.” – Lee Alexander McQueen

“[The finale of this collection] was inspired by an installation by artist Rebecca Horn of two shotguns firing blood-red paint at each other.” – Lee Alexander McQueen

Some of his best work, interesting in concepts and very visually appealing, his play with shape and form i love and find truly inspiring.
